§ 111455 Altering Drug Device Labels

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't change or remove the label on medicine or medical tools.
  • •If you do this and it makes the medicine or tool look wrong or fake, it's against the law.
  • •This rule helps make sure people know what they're taking or using.

Example

You have a bottle of painkillers, and you peel off the label to put a fake one that says it's candy.

This is illegal because you changed the label, and now the medicine looks like something it's not. Someone might take it by mistake, thinking it's candy.
