§ 77006 Statute Severability Clause

Key Takeaways

  • •This law should be understood in a broad and flexible way.
  • •If one part of this law is found to be invalid or doesn't work, the rest of the law still applies.
  • •The different parts of this law can work on their own, even if one part is removed.

Example

Imagine a law about school rules that says kids must wear uniforms and finish homework on time.

If a court says the uniform rule is unfair, the homework rule still stands. The rest of the law stays in place even if one part is removed.
