§ 58577 Marketing Organization Confidentiality Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Some business plans and reports given to the state are kept secret to protect the companies that share them.
  • •The state won’t share these secret documents if someone asks for them under public records laws.
  • •If a company asks, the state can have a private meeting to talk about their secret plans instead of talking about them in public.

Example

A farmer gives the state a secret plan to sell more oranges.

The state won’t show this plan to anyone else, even if someone asks for it. If the farmer asks, the state can talk about the plan in a private meeting instead of in public.
