§ 13886 Safe Drinking Water Grants

Key Takeaways

  • •The government will only give money to help with drinking water if the place really can't afford to fix it themselves.
  • •Before getting the money, the place must show a plan to fix the water problem.
  • •The plan must be approved by the health department.
  • •The place must also have a permit to do the work.

Example

A small town's water is dirty and makes people sick, but the town doesn't have enough money to fix it.

The town can ask the government for money to help fix the water. But first, they need to show a plan to clean the water, get the health department to say the plan is good, and have a permit to do the work. If they do all that, they might get the money.
