§ 70273 Annexation Resolution Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •The law says you must clearly describe the area you want to add to a district.
  • •You have to give the new area a name.
  • •You must explain how adding this area will help the district.
  • •Everyone who cares about this change gets a chance to speak at a meeting.

Example

A small town wants to add a nearby neighborhood to its school district.

The town must draw a map of the neighborhood, give it a name, explain how it will help the schools, and let people who live there talk about it at a meeting before it happens.
