§ 27281 City Transit District Exclusion

• •If a city already has bus or train service in a new area it adds, it can ask to remove that area from the old transit district.
• •If a city adds land that was never part of a transit district, it can ask to keep that land out of the district.
• •The city’s leaders (like the city council) must officially ask the transit district to make this change.

A small town grows and adds a new neighborhood. The town already runs buses there, so it doesn’t want the bigger city’s transit system to take over.

The town’s leaders can ask the bigger transit district to leave the new neighborhood out of its service area.
