§ 12333 Retirement Contribution Rates

Key Takeaways

  • •Both the district (like your school or city) and its workers must pay money into the retirement system.
  • •The board decides how much each worker must pay based on special tables and guesses they make.
  • •The amount you pay depends on your job and how much the board thinks is needed for your retirement.

Example

If you work for the city as a firefighter, part of your paycheck goes into a retirement fund.

The city and you both have to put money into this fund so you get money when you retire. The board looks at tables and decides how much you need to pay.
