§ 103107 Board Meeting Conduct Rules

This law says any board meeting has to follow the rules set out in the Ralph M. Brown Act.

Key Takeaways

  • •Board meetings must use the Brown Act’s procedures.
  • •The Brown Act tells how to give notice, set an agenda, and keep meetings open to the public.
  • •If a board doesn’t follow those steps, the meeting could be considered invalid.

Example

A city council wants to hold a meeting to talk about a new park.

Because of this law, the council must run the meeting the way the Brown Act says – they have to give people notice, post an agenda, and let the public watch and speak.
