§ 79945 Hazardous Substance Lien Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •The lien must include the exact address and details of the property where the hazardous substance was released.
  • •It must also include the name of the property owner as listed in official records.
  • •The lien needs the assessor’s parcel number (a unique number for the property).

Example

A factory spills toxic chemicals into the ground, and the government wants to make sure the owner pays for cleanup.

The government will file a lien on the factory’s property. The lien must include the factory’s exact address, the owner’s name, and the property’s unique number (assessor’s parcel number). This way, everyone knows which property is involved and who is responsible.
