§ 40154 District Board Member Compensation

(a) Each member of the unified district board shall, upon the adoption of a resolution by the unified district board at an open regular meeting, receive the actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties, plus a compensation of up to two hundred dollars ($200) for each day attending the meetings of the unified district board or any committee of the unified district board or basin control council or, upon authorization by the unified district board, while engaged in official business of the unified district, but that compensation shall not exceed seven thousand two hundred dollars ($7,200) in any one year. (b) The compensation of each member of the unified district board may be increased beyond the amount provided in this section by the unified district board at an open regular meeting, but the amount of the increase shall not exceed the greater of either of the following: (1) An amount equal to 5 percent for each calendar year from the operative date of the last adjustment of the compensation. (2) Beginning January 1, 2025, an amount not to exceed 10 percent for each calendar year that is equal to the annual change in inflation as determined by the California Consumer Price Index. (c) The unified district board shall not provide for automatic future increases in compensation for its members. (Amended by Stats. 2024, Ch. 406, Sec. 2. (AB 2522) Effective January 1, 2025.)
