§ 17040 Employee Housing Safety Standards

Key Takeaways

  • •The government makes rules to keep workers safe and healthy in their housing.
  • •These rules cover how worker housing is built, fixed, and kept clean.
  • •The rules also include things like air flow and how many people can live in the housing.
  • •If someone breaks these rules, they can get in trouble and might have to pay money.

Example

A farm has small houses for its workers. The houses are very dirty, have no windows, and too many people are living in each house.

This is against the law because the houses are not clean, don't have enough air, and are too crowded. The farm owner could be fined for not following the rules.
