§ 4301 Foreign Material Exemptions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law does not apply to things that are not made in the United States.
  • •It also does not apply to certain calculators made outside the U.S. by American companies.
  • •The calculators must be made in factories owned by American companies with most of their operations in the U.S.

Example

A company in Japan makes a calculator, but the company is owned by an American company with its main offices in the U.S.

This law does not apply to those calculators because they are made by an American-owned company, even though the factory is in Japan.
