§ 23559 County Consolidation Ballot Pamphlet

Key Takeaways

  • •Before a vote on merging counties, everyone who can vote gets a special booklet in the mail.
  • •The booklet has easy-to-read info: what merging means, how it affects money, who might be in charge, and reasons for and against it.
  • •The booklet must be sent at least 10 days before the vote.

Example

Imagine two small towns want to become one big town.

The town leaders must send a booklet to every voter explaining what will change, like how taxes might go up or down, who the new leaders could be, and why some people like or dislike the idea. This helps voters decide before they vote.
