§ 20507 Contracting Agency Retirement Rules

• •If a company starts a contract on or after January 1, 1974, and isn't an employer under Chapter 9, they must follow the retirement law as it is on the date of the contract.
• •If a company stops being an employer, they must follow the retirement law as it is on the date they stop being an employer.
• •The company must follow any changes to the retirement law after these dates, except for changes in Chapter 9 (except for Section 20834).
• •The company can choose to follow other changes to the law if they want to.

A small business starts a contract with the government on February 1, 1974.

The small business must follow the retirement law as it was on February 1, 1974. If the retirement law changes after that date, the small business must follow those changes too, except for changes in Chapter 9 (except for Section 20834).
