§ 20503 Contract Amendment Exclusions

Key Takeaways

  • •A company can change its contract to remove old rules, but only for future work.
  • •The change can't make the company responsible for things that already happened.
  • •This rule started in 1996.

Example

A cleaning company had a rule that they wouldn’t clean windows. They change the contract to start cleaning windows.

The new rule only applies to future cleanings. If they missed cleaning windows before, they can’t be blamed for it now.
