§ 5577 Abandoned Plant Tax Notice

• •If a plant or crop is left alone on land that the state now owns because taxes weren't paid, the state has to send a copy of the legal papers to the State Controller.
• •The last owner of the land before the state took it must also get a copy of these papers.
• •A notice about the legal action must be officially recorded.

Imagine you used to own a farm but didn't pay your taxes, so the state took over the land. There are still some crops growing on that farm.

The state has to send papers about the neglected crops to the State Controller and to you, the last owner. They also have to record a notice that there's a legal action happening.
