§ 5580 Service By Mail Or Posting

• •If the person you need to serve with papers doesn't live in the same county, you can mail the papers to them if mail delivery is available where they live or work.
• •If there's no mail delivery where they live, or you don't know where they live, you can post the papers in a visible spot on the property where the neglected or abandoned plants or crops are located.
• •You must post the papers at least 20 days before the date mentioned in the citation.

A farmer in one county has abandoned his crops, and the person who needs to serve him with papers doesn't know where he lives.

Since the farmer's location is unknown, the papers can be posted on the farm where the crops are, at least 20 days before the court date.
