§ 35754 Goat Milk Sterilization Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •You can heat goat milk to kill germs and sell it as regular milk.
  • •The milk must still meet all the normal rules for selling milk.
  • •This is only about goat milk, not cow milk or other kinds.

Example

A farmer heats goat milk to a very high temperature to kill bacteria, stores it, and then sells it in a grocery store.

This is allowed as long as the milk is clean and follows all the usual milk-selling rules when it's put on the shelf.
