§ 35191 Margarine Sales Records Requirement

Key Takeaways

  • •If you make or bring in fake butter (like margarine) or anything that looks like butter but isn't made from real milk or cream, you have to keep records.
  • •The records must show how much you sold or bought, who you bought it from or sold it to, the date, and where it was sent.
  • •This rule is for anything that looks like a milk product but isn't made from pure milk or cream.

Example

A company makes margarine and sells it to grocery stores.

The company must write down how much margarine they sold, which stores bought it, when they sold it, and where they sent it. If they don’t keep these records, they could get in trouble.
