§ 24714 Poultry Plant Exemption Rules

• •This law does not apply to small poultry farms that sell their chicken or turkey meat directly to customers.
• •The farm must slaughter and prepare the poultry on the same property where it was raised.
• •The farm cannot sell the poultry to stores or other businesses for resale—only directly to people.

A family owns a small farm where they raise chickens. They kill, clean, and sell the chickens right on their farm to neighbors and at a farm stand.

This law does not apply to them because they sell all their chicken meat directly to customers from their own farm and don’t sell it to stores.
