§ 21067 Cattle Transport Permit Exemption

Key Takeaways

  • •You can move cattle to another state without checking their brands if it's for grazing and less than 50 miles away.
  • •You can't sell the cattle while moving them under this rule.
  • •You might have to pay up to $100 for a yearly permit to do this.
  • •The boss can cancel the permit anytime and make you check the brands if they think something's wrong.

Example

A farmer wants to move his cows to a nearby field in another state for the summer.

If the field is within 50 miles and the farmer isn't selling the cows, he can get a permit to move them without checking their brands. But if he tries to sell them, he'll need to follow the usual brand check rules.
