§ 14287 Voter Ballot Privacy Rules

This rule says you can't put any personal details that show who you are on a voting paper.

Key Takeaways

  • •Never sign your ballot.
  • •Never write your name, initials, or address on a ballot.
  • •Never add any ID numbers, like a voter ID, Social Security number, or driver’s license number.

Example

Jane writes her full name and driver’s license number on the ballot she fills out for a local election.

Because she added her name and driver’s license number, she broke the rule that says ballots must stay anonymous. The ballot could be thrown out or she could face a penalty.
