This law tells voters they must put a mark in the right spot on the ballot for a measure and they have to use the pen or pencil that is given to them.

Key Takeaways

  • •Mark the ballot in the space next to the answer you want.
  • •Use the marking device (pen, pencil, etc.) that is provided with the ballot.
  • •The rule applies whenever a measure is placed on the ballot for voters.

Example

A voter receives a ballot with Proposition 12 and sees boxes for "Yes" and "No".
