§ 17496 School District Property Transfers

Key Takeaways

  • •If a school district doesn't follow the rules in this law, it doesn't mean the sale or transfer of property is invalid.
  • •People who buy or lend money for the property are still protected even if the school district made a mistake.
  • •This law is about making sure property deals stay valid even if the school district messes up.

Example

A school district sells an old school building to a company but forgets to do some paperwork required by this law.

Even if the school district didn't follow all the rules, the sale is still valid, and the company still owns the building.
