§ 16087 District Property Transfer Certification

• •The Controller must officially say the unpaid balance is cancelled.
• •The board must get that certification before doing anything.
• •The board then hands over, in the state's name, all property bought with the cancelled money (land, equipment, buildings).

A school district got state money to build a new school, but some of the money is still unpaid. The state cancels the unpaid part.

Because the unpaid money is cancelled, the board, acting for the state, gives the land, the school building, and the desks and computers bought with that money to the school district.
