§ 9350 Public Works Payment Rights

Key Takeaways

  • •If you work on a government building project, your payment rights are only protected by this law.
  • •You can't claim money from the project's fund unless you have a written contract with the person in charge of the money.
  • •This law is the only way to solve payment problems for these kinds of jobs.

Example

A painter works on a new school building but doesn't get paid.

The painter can only get paid if they have a written contract with the person holding the money for the project. If not, they can't just demand money from the project's fund—they have to follow the rules in this law.
