§ 75635 Groundwater Charge Collection Fees

Key Takeaways

  • •If a water facility doesn't file a water report or pay their water fees on time, they can be charged extra money to cover the cost of collecting the late payment.
  • •The extra charge is decided by the district to cover their trouble.
  • •Sometimes, if there's a good reason, the extra charge can be reduced or even canceled.

Example

A farm uses water from a local water facility but forgets to pay their water bill on time.

The water district can charge the farm extra money for having to collect the late payment. If the farm had a good reason, like a big storm damaged their office, the district might reduce or cancel the extra charge.

§ 75635 Groundwater Charge Collection Fees

In addition to those remedies set forth in Sections 75615 and 75616, if the operator of a water-producing facility fails to file a water production statement or pay delinquent groundwater charges when due, the district may assess an administrative charge to recover the cost of collection of delinquent unpaid charges. The board may provide by ordinance that in excusable or justifiable circumstances, the administrative charge may be reduced or waived. (Added by Stats. 2017, Ch. 294, Sec. 1.
