§ 11918 State Water Recreation Facilities

This law lets the Parks Department build and run fun places like parks at big water projects, but they have to check with local leaders first and make sure it doesn’t mess up the water project’s main jobs.

Key Takeaways

  • •Parks Department can create fun spots at state water projects, but not boat ramps—that’s another group’s job.
  • •They must show their plans to local leaders before building anything.
  • •They can’t do anything that stops the water project from working right.

Example

The state builds a new lake for storing water, and the Parks Department wants to add a picnic area and walking trails around it.

They have to show their plans to the city or county first, and also make sure the picnic spots and trails don’t get in the way of the lake’s job to hold and move water.
