§ 2417 Emergency Vehicle Permit Revocation

This law says the police can take away a special permit for emergency vehicles like ambulances or fire trucks if they break traffic rules, don't follow safety equipment rules, or don't follow the rules set by the police.

Key Takeaways

  • •Emergency vehicles (like ambulances or fire trucks) must follow traffic and equipment rules.
  • •If they break the rules, their special permit can be taken away.
  • •The owner of the vehicle can ask for a hearing to argue why the permit should not be taken away.
  • •If one permit is taken away, other permits for the same owner might also be taken away.

Example

An ambulance driver runs red lights without turning on the siren or flashing lights.

The police can take away the ambulance's special permit because the driver broke the rules for emergency vehicles.
