§ 90243 Board Voting Requirements

• •The board must make decisions using motions, resolutions, or ordinances.
• •An ordinance cannot be passed on the same day it is introduced or within the next seven days.
• •Ordinances can only be passed during regular or adjourned regular meetings.
• •Any decision (ordinance, resolution, or motion) needs more than half of the directors to vote 'yes' to be valid.

A town board wants to pass a new rule about where people can park their cars.

The board can't vote on this new rule the same day they talk about it. They have to wait at least seven days. They also can't vote on it during a special meeting—only at their normal scheduled meetings. And for the rule to pass, more than half of the board members must agree.
