§ 90073 District Boundary Inclusion Process

Key Takeaways

  • •People can ask the county to add new areas to the San Diego Transit District by signing a petition.
  • •The petition needs signatures from at least 5% of the voters in that area who voted in the last big election.
  • •The county has 30 days to decide if they want to include the new area after getting the petition.
  • •The county must send their decision to a special group (Local Agency Formation Commission) for review within 30 days.

Example

A neighborhood wants better bus service and wants to join the San Diego Transit District.

If 5% of the voters in that neighborhood sign a petition asking to join, the county has to consider adding them. The county then checks if it’s a good idea and sends the request to another group for review.
