§ 80011 Transit District Annexation Terms

Key Takeaways

  • •If a bigger bus company wants to take over a smaller one, they have to check a few things first.
  • •The bigger company must promise to give the same or better bus service to the smaller area.
  • •The people in the smaller area shouldn’t have to pay way more in taxes than what they get in better bus service.
  • •If all these things are okay, the two companies can make a deal to combine.

Example

Imagine a small town has its own little bus system, but a bigger city nearby wants to take it over.

The bigger city has to promise the small town will still get good bus rides, and the small town’s people won’t pay way more in taxes for it. If that’s all good, they can make a deal.
