§ 493 Carrier Rate Filing Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Truck or bus companies must tell the government how much they charge to move people or stuff before they start working.
  • •If a company moves stuff without telling the government their prices, the government can decide a fair price for them.
  • •This rule does not apply to trains.

Example

A moving truck company starts helping people move their furniture to new homes but doesn’t tell the government how much they charge.

The government can step in and set a fair price for the moving truck company to charge because they didn’t follow the rule of sharing their prices first.
