§ 29755 Voter Approval Of Dissolution

Key Takeaways

  • •If most people vote 'yes' to end something (like a special district or program), it gets shut down.
  • •The people in charge must count the votes right after the election.
  • •They have to meet the very next Monday to check the votes.

Example

A small town votes on whether to close their local library because it’s too expensive.

If more than half the voters say 'yes' to closing it, the library will shut down. The town leaders must count the votes and confirm the result the Monday after the vote.
