§ 244 Transit Fare Discount Rights

Key Takeaways

  • •Bus or train companies can't make you give up your right to sue them for injuries just to get a cheaper ticket.
  • •This rule is for passengers, not for people who work for the bus or train company.
  • •If you get hurt because of the bus or train, you can still ask for money to help, even if you paid less for your ticket.

Example

You buy a discounted monthly bus pass, and the fine print says you can't sue if you get hurt on the bus.

The bus company can't do that. Even with the discount, you can still ask for money if you get hurt because of them.
