§ 16654 District Tax Collection Process

Key Takeaways

  • •Special taxes (from Sections 16648 to 16653) are collected the same way as regular county taxes.
  • •The money collected from these taxes goes to the district's treasurer.
  • •The same rules and penalties for paying other taxes apply here too.

Example

Your town adds a small extra tax to help pay for better schools.

This extra tax is collected just like your normal property tax. The money goes to the school district, and if you don’t pay it on time, you’ll face the same penalties as not paying your regular taxes.
