§ 13852 Annexation Election Notice

• •Before an election about joining a new area to a city or town, people must be told about it in a public notice.
• •The notice must say where people can read the full agreement about the joining (annexation) or include all the details of the agreement in the notice itself.
• •The notice has to follow the rules from another law (Section 11534) about how to tell the public.

A small town wants to become part of a bigger nearby city. The city plans a vote to decide this.

The city must put up a public notice about the vote. This notice can either say where people can go to read the full joining agreement (like the city clerk’s office) or list all the details of the agreement in the notice itself. This way, everyone knows what’s happening before they vote.
