§ 120650 Transit Equipment Purchase Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •The board can buy transit equipment like buses, trains, or trolley cars.
  • •They can make deals or leases to get this equipment, similar to how private companies do it.
  • •They can pay for the equipment over time, not all at once.
  • •The board doesn’t fully own the equipment until all payments are made.

Example

The board wants to buy new buses for the city.

They can make a deal to pay for the buses in small parts over time, like paying for a car in monthly payments. The buses won’t fully belong to the board until the last payment is made.
