§ 105021 Board Member Terms Vacancies

This law says a 12‑person board has members who serve four‑year terms that start at different times, and if a spot opens up, the same group that chose the original member must pick a new one within 60 days.

Key Takeaways

  • •The board always has 12 members.
  • •Each member serves a four‑year term, but the start dates are staggered so not everyone leaves at once.
  • •If a member leaves, the original appointing body must fill the vacancy within 60 days.

Example

A board member quits after two years. The city council that originally appointed that member must choose a replacement and have them start within the next 60 days.

The board keeps its 12 spots filled, and the replacement comes from the same appointing body, not from somewhere else.
