§ 101214 County Treasurer District Funds

This law says that if a county is in charge of a district's money, the county treasurer must keep it safe and can only spend it when the county auditor gives permission.

Key Takeaways

  • •The county treasurer holds the district's money but can't spend it alone.
  • •The county auditor must approve any spending from the district's funds.
  • •This rule helps make sure the district's money is spent the right way.

Example

A school district has money saved for new books and computers.

The county treasurer can't just spend that money whenever they want. They have to wait for the county auditor to say it's okay to pay for the books and computers.
