§ 101153 School Transit Contracts

• •The transit board can sign a contract with any school district’s governing body.
• •A school district’s board can also sign a contract with the transit board.
• •The contract is for moving students using any transit facility of the transit district.
• •It applies to schools that are fully or partly inside the transit district.

A high school that sits partly inside the city’s transit area works with the city transit authority so that the city’s buses can pick up and drop off its students.

Because the law says the board and the school can sign a contract, the city can let its buses carry the kids to school and back, even if the school is only partly inside the transit zone.
