§ 7800 Removal Of Human Remains

Key Takeaways

  • •Family or friends can take a dead person's body from a cemetery before the cemetery moves it.
  • •They can do this anytime they want, as long as the cemetery hasn't moved the body yet.
  • •This is only for people who want to do it themselves—no one is forced to.

Example

Your grandma is buried in a small-town cemetery, but your family wants to move her to a family plot in another city.

If the cemetery hasn’t moved her body yet, your family can take her remains and bury her somewhere else instead of waiting for the cemetery to do it.
