§ 7754 Disinterment Notice Requirement

Key Takeaways

  • •If a family member or friend asks to be told before a body is moved from a cemetery, the cemetery must tell them first.
  • •The cemetery can't move the body until they give notice to the person who asked.
  • •This rule is to make sure loved ones know and can be there if they want.

Example

Your grandma is buried in a cemetery, and the cemetery wants to move her grave to another spot.

If you tell the cemetery you want to know before they move her, they have to tell you when it will happen. They can't move her until they let you know.
