§ 7750 Family Presence At Disinterment

Key Takeaways

  • •If a cemetery is moving graves, family or friends can ask to be there when the body is dug up or buried again.
  • •You have to tell the cemetery in writing before the move happens.
  • •This is only for people who know the person buried there.

Example

Your grandma is buried in a cemetery, but the cemetery is closing and moving all the graves to a new place.

You can write a letter to the cemetery and say, 'I want to be there when you move my grandma's body.' They have to let you be there if you ask before the move.
