§ 6643 Bond Election Proposal Options

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can ask voters to approve borrowing money (bonds) for multiple projects at once in one big question.
  • •Or, they can split it up and ask voters to approve borrowing money for each project separately.
  • •The people in charge get to decide whether to group the projects together or ask about them one by one.

Example

Imagine your town needs to fix the school, build a new park, and repair the roads.

The town can ask voters one big question: 'Should we borrow money to do all three things?' Or they can ask three separate questions: 'Should we borrow money to fix the school?', 'Should we borrow money to build the park?', and 'Should we borrow money to repair the roads?' The town leaders get to pick how they ask the question.
