§ 40458 South Coast Rule Amendments

• •Some old rules (1501 and 1501.1) from the south coast area are now canceled and don't count anymore.
• •Another rule (2202) is changed so that it now applies to workplaces with 250 or more employees instead of a smaller number.
• •The people in charge must replace rule 2202 as soon as they can with new ways to reduce pollution from cars and trucks, but they can't just make new rules about how clean new cars should be or change the type of fuel used.

A big factory in the south coast area has 300 workers. Before, a rule might have applied to them because they had over 100 workers, but now the rule only applies if they have 250 or more workers.

The factory now has to follow rule 2202 because they have 300 workers, which is more than the new limit of 250. They will also have to follow new rules in the future that help reduce pollution from cars and trucks, but those new rules won't be about making new cars cleaner or changing fuel types.
