§ 40371 Regional District Funding Allocation

Key Takeaways

  • •Every year, the regional district must figure out how much money it needs for the next year.
  • •The money is split between the counties in the district in two equal parts: half based on how much property each county has, and half based on how many people live in each county.
  • •The district uses the latest population numbers they have to do this.

Example

Imagine there are two counties in a regional district: County A and County B. County A has more people but less valuable property, and County B has fewer people but more valuable property.

The regional district will calculate how much money each county needs to pay. Half of the money will be based on the value of the property in each county, and the other half will be based on how many people live in each county.
