§ 18089 Conditional Mobile Home Registration

Key Takeaways

  • •If you want to register a mobile home or similar in California, you must prove you own it and that no one else has a claim on it.
  • •If you can't prove ownership or that there are no claims, the state may give you a special registration card but won't give you the full title.
  • •To get the full title, you must either show the right papers or pay a bond (like a safety deposit).

Example

You buy a used mobile home, but the seller doesn’t give you the full papers showing they own it outright.

California might let you register it with a special card, but you won’t get the official title until you prove ownership or pay a bond.
