§ 13118 Retail Solvent Labeling Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •All cleaning liquids or chemicals sold in stores must have the right warning labels.
  • •The labels must follow the rules from a big federal law about dangerous stuff.
  • •If a store or company doesn’t follow these label rules, they can get in trouble and might have to pay a fine or go to court.

Example

You go to the store and buy a bottle of paint thinner.

The bottle must have a clear label warning you that it’s dangerous, like saying it can catch fire or hurt your skin. If the store sells it without the right label, they’re breaking the law.
