§ 13054 County Fire Assistance Reimbursement

Key Takeaways

  • •If one county helps another county fight a fire, the county that got help has to pay them back.
  • •The amount they pay is decided ahead of time by the leaders of both counties.
  • •This also applies if the county helps the state or federal government with a fire.

Example

A big wildfire starts in County A, but it's spreading too fast. County B sends firefighters and trucks to help put it out.

County A has to pay County B back for the help. The leaders of both counties already agreed on how much County A would pay for things like firefighters' time and fire trucks.
